Here are our rankings of the top performances by class in Kentucky high school football for the final week of last season:   

CLASS A Ryan Amelung, WR/DB, Beechwood
Returned a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns in Beechwood's 38-35 win over Lexington Christian in Class A title game. 

CLASS AA Dextor Durrante, RB, Ft. Campbell             
10 carries for 120 yards and a game-clinching TD in Ft. Campbell's 21-7   win over Newport Central Catholic for the Class 2A title.   

CLASS AAA Darrell Taylor, RB, Louisville Central 22 rushes for 165 yards 3 touchdowns (runs of 48 and 45 yards and a 76-yard interception return).Taylor was the main ingredient in Central's improbable run to the AAA state title, the first-ever in football for his school.  His 48-yard TD run late in the first quarter put Central on the board first and they went on defeat previously unbeaten Belfry 27-17.    

CLASS 4A Shane Isreal, RB. Lexington Catholic 27 rushes for 194 yards, 4 touchdowns in Lexington Catholic's 49-7 Class 4A final win over Lone Oak.   

CLASS 5A Josh Conner, RB, Highlands 27 rushes for 131 yards and two TDs as Highlands completed an undefeated season with a 28-7 Class 5A final win over Bowling Green.   

CLASS 6A Tim Phillips, RB, Trinity  167 rushing yards and two TDs on 16 carries as THS beat St. Xavier 34-28 in the class 6A finale.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

Here are our rankings of the top 10 performances in Kentucky girls' high school basketball for the Sweet 16...  
 
1.  Tia Gibbs, Butler 
In a 58-46 semifinal win over DuPont Manual, Gibbs notched a tournament-high 33 points on 13/21 shooting from the field, grabbed 12 rebounds (including six on the offensive glass) and had four steals to lead the Bearettes into the title game

2.  Kelleshia Cook, Franklin-Simpson 19 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals in title game loss   

3.  Tia Gibbs, Butler 
31 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals in quarterfinal win over Ohio County             

4.  Chastity Gooch, Franklin-Simpson 
26 points, 11 rebounds, 8 blocks in first-round win over Simon Kenton    
5.  Alyse Poindexter, Henderson County 27 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks in first-round win over Conner   

6.  Heather Wheat, Butler Two baskets sandwiched around a steal to personally break open a 46-all tie in finale.  She finished with 8 points, 4 assists and 3 steals   

7.  Chastity Gooch, Franklin-Simpson             
22 points, 12 rebounds in semifinal over Elizabethtown   

8.  Brittany Wilson, DuPont Manual             
18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 blocks in semifinal loss   

9.  Alex Jones, Elizabethtown             
23 points, 11 rebounds in quarterfinal win over Henderson County   

10.  Tiara Hopper, Butler             
15 points, 11 rebounds in Butler's championship game win.
